Our first project in Hilo, Hawaii on the grounds of the National Energy Labs of Hawaii (NELHA) is well on its way. The design and structural drawings are in review and the crew is scheduled to meet Jamie on July 14th to break ground. They will be there for 4 weeks to coordinate and build Art Across America's first stake in the ground.
The groundswell of enthusiasm is quite inspiring. Help is flying at us from all angles. People are out there scrounging aluminum and plastic for us, and scaring up tools, places to stay and vans. It's kind of punk rock. NELHA itself is researching the rather curious concept of drawing cold deep-sea water from the bottom of the ocean to the surface through huge pipes to create clean energy from the temperature differential as it comes to the surface. Don't ask me to explain it; but it's clearly a good thing - as is their generosity in donating the land and a concrete pad on which to mount our installation.
So here's where you can help:
We need money. This is a nonprofit adventure all the way: We have volunteer help, design and labor being done for the fun of it, for the hell of it and because it's the right thing to do. The planet's going to hell and we need to start putting something right somewhere here and this idea is as good as any.
Now is the time we need your help to make this happen.
Any amount will go along way to build our first sculpture.
Each donation amount will receive a AAA sticker.
